I’m not suggesting it’s horrible or that we should ban all modern technology, but going back to older technology isn’t always a bad idea.
Continuous dilemma’s such as no more smartphones in class pose a question: is it a positive or negative development? (I’m honestly not sure.) However, what can contribute to this debate is the fact that traditional methods, such as writing, have recently proven to be more effective in improving memory and information processing.
So: maybe we should get out of the dogma discussion (tech is good / not good / you’re wrong) and just sensibly choose what is smart. In this case probably old technology.
